The Dream Behind Cove
How a someday dream became an island gallery filled with art, beauty, and community.
by kelly
Some dreams arrive all at once. Others are pieced together slowly, from the places we visit, the people we meet, and the experiences that stay with us long after we realize they mattered.
Cove was my “someday” dream.
A Life Shaped by Art
Born and raised in Sarasota, Florida, I’ve always dreamed of living simply as an artist. Not necessarily building something big or following a perfectly mapped-out plan, just creating meaningful work and making space for the beauty that inspires me.
Of course, the answer is rarely that simple, right?
With the unwavering support of my family and friends, that quiet dream eventually evolved into Cove, our beautiful space on Anna Maria Island. It became a place where I could share my own work, yes, but also something much more meaningful: a home for the incredible creations of fellow local artists.
There is something special about bringing all of that work together under one roof. Each artist arrives with a different perspective, a different story, and a different way of seeing the land, sea, sky, and everyday moments around us. Together, those individual voices create something none of us could make alone.
Piecing Together a Someday Dream
Designing and creating Cove did not begin with one clear blueprint. The idea was pieced together from the many experiences that have shaped my life, from crystal shops to island galleries, and from all the little moments that quietly showed me what a creative space could feel like.
Those places taught me that art is not only something to look at. It can shift the energy of a room, mark a memory, make us laugh, or help us feel more like ourselves. Sometimes a painting finds you. Sometimes it is a piece of jewelry, a book, a card, or a crystal you cannot stop picking up.
What finds you?
It’s pretty amazing how the journey unfolds. Kinda cheesy to try and verbalize it, but truly wonderful to stand inside this Bradenton Beach gallery and see how far that someday dream has come.
What You’ll Find at Cove
Cove is filled with the things that inspire me most: crystals, original paintings, one-of-a-kind jewelry, thoughtfully curated books and cards, and work made with real care by people in our creative community.
The collection is intentionally varied because inspiration is personal. One visitor may connect immediately with a piece of local art, while another finds the perfect handmade gift or a card that says exactly what they could not quite put into words. That discovery is part of the fun. You never really know what will speak to you until it does.
Our location on Bridge Street also gives the gallery a sense of place. Anna Maria Island has a wonderfully unhurried rhythm, and Cove reflects that spirit: come in, take your time, look closely, and notice what draws you in.
The People Who Make Cove Possible
This journey has included plenty of stumbling, climbing, crying, and laughing. I am deeply grateful to every person who has supported me, challenged me, and kept believing in what Cove could become.
Cheers to YOU!!
And to the artists who pour their time, talent, and heart into this space, filling it with beauty and love, I truly cannot do it without you. Supporting local artists means supporting the hours, risks, experiments, and deeply personal choices behind every finished piece. It means helping creativity remain part of the fabric of our island community.
Becoming Part of the Ripple
Every visit, purchase, conversation, and shared recommendation matters. Thank you for supporting our community of creatives and giving their work a place in your homes, celebrations, and memories.
Your presence and participation help us all shine. One artist supports another, one visitor tells a friend, one piece finds the person it was meant for, and the energy continues outward.
That is the ripple, and collectively, it lifts us all up.
